We are now officially 1:1 in the classroom! Our iPads have arrived and we are embarking on an incredible journey connecting and sharing our learning with the world around us in meaningful ways! The first 3 essential questions we discussed around our iPads were: How do we want to use them?, What do we need to think about? and What agreements should we have around our iPads?
We will be starting small with the Apps we will learn and master centered around publishing our learning and videos using Educreations and iMovie to share our growth and hard work with others. Weebly also becomes more accessible so i am excited to see how we can incorporate daily blogging and artifact uploading into our classroom routines!
iPads also bring up a valuable focus on audience and digital footprint. I hope to have the class understand the importance of thinking about intended audience as that may shape the language and platform we choose to connect ourselves with the world.

Our first iPad Weebly upload!
For our first attempt to upload our on-the-spot learning in class revolved around our Rocks and Minerals Science Unit. Using a non-fiction article, we learned all about Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedimentary rocks and came up with observable properties that might help us classify the 12 rocks we were given! It was a great opportunity to apply our new learning and I loved hearing the discussions help between partners around the different rock features. After organizing the rocks from the tray into the 3 groups, we then took a photo of each group and uploaded the photo, along with a caption, to our Weebly Blog! Here are some photos of the action:
