In Writing we have been talking a lot about giving constructive feedback along with reflecting using a Writing Checklist. Our goal is to be able to thoughtfully examine our own work or the work of a classmate and give feedback that improves the writing. I am amazed at both the kind of feedback I hear them giving and how well they are receiving it (because, let's be honest, it isn't always easy)! I also love the goal setting session we did after using the checklist to help improve our next story or draft. |
We also selected up to 3 first person narratives that we would like to turn into a personal memoir! Using our mentor text, Marshfield Dreams, we worked to craft our own Storytellers Voice through a variety of strategies. The overarching goal of a Storyteller is to show rather than tell. We also talked about how to write a "hook" that grabs the attention of the reader and makes them want to read more. I am excited as we progress through the publishing process and turn our memories and experiences into our own personal memoirs. |
