A busy day exploring the interdependence of bees and plants in order to make seeds (and honey!).
As our Brassica or Wisconsin Fast Plants grow, bloom, and begin to form seed pods, we got to play the part of a honey bee (safely) and had a class pollinating session. We also read on the interdependence or symbiotic relationship between the bees and plants. Our class was abuzz' as we did the bee dance and observed the finer details of pollination first hand! Our minds were also intrigued as we compared and contrasted the plants reproductive details and labeled the parts of the yellow flowers using new science vocabulary: stigma, anther, petal, pistil, and bud.
This also marks our final days of our Plant Science Unit as we make some last observations of the seed pods we see forming behind the wilting of the flowers. I am proud of our class of Scientists! Next steps will be to tie Plant Science into seasonal change and migration!
